“Libraries are not just silent rooms with plenty of books, these are the wisdom symbols of a nation”
Libraries are an essential part of the community. However not all societies have libraries. Libraries require centralized populations, economic development and political stability for their survival. Libraries exist in places where peace exists.
Libraries have different missions and serve different communities differently. People and organizations establish libraries with different missions. Historical overview shows that libraries have always had missions.
As far our city is concerned, the only municipal library in Daska is facing a lot of problems while no solution to them is in sight so far. At least 40-year-old library’s new building was built in 2004 that was demolished six months ago when the district administration declared the building an encroachment and issued final notice to vacate it instantly. The library then was shifted to a single ancient room on the College Road by placing all 3,000 books packed in bags there.
The Tehsil Municipal Administration, which runs the library, has not added even a single new book to the library for the last two decades. It has a collection of 3,100 books most of which are dust-ridden; some almost unusable.
Absence of facility for reading newspapers, rickety furniture and the rundown building structure keep the people away from the public library.Post of librarian is vacant currently filled with a grade 4 sanitary worker who is also a disabled person.
Technology has been evolving day by day. Now a days libraries are also transformed into e-Libraries. Where physical books are being replaced by e-books having variety of content. We are going to establish an e-library for the books lovers of our city.
As you all knew, I belong to a benevolent family. I Usman Khalid and my father Alhaj. Baba G khalid Mehmood Makki Madni had always tried to bring the ease in the lives of NA-75’s people.
But the fact is, we can’t do this alone. We need your cooperation in terms of your support. On conclusion, I promise you all to bring and provide all the necessary facilities to our city and its citizen’s doorstep.
